The McMaster Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact (HEI) was initially created in 1967 as the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics with the charge of "enhancing the quality of clinical research through fostering rigorous scientifically valid clinical research methods and their application in the Faculty." The Department's research projects have led to breakthroughs in understanding and to fundamental changes in clinical practice and helped transform the clinical-research paradigm.
